چکیده

The complex geometry and structure of the right ventricular (RV) cavity make the assessment of RV function and volumes by 2-dimensional (2D) echocardiography arduous. Highly trabeculated endocardial border and bellows-like contractile pattern are not explicitly imaged by 2D echocardiography. Furthermore, the retrosternal position of the right ventricle hinders its visualization, and minimal changes in the angle of insonification affect RV chamber measurement and thereby, reproducibility.

Right ventricular Hemodynamic Alteration after Pulmonary Valve Replacement in Children with Congenital Heart Disease

Introduction:  In patients who underwent surgery to repair Tetralogy of Fallot, right ventricular dilation from pulmonary regurgitation may be result in right ventricular failure, arrhythmias and cardiac arrest. Hence, pulmonary valve replacement may be necessary to reduce right ventricular volume overload. The aim of present study was to assess the effects of pulmonary valve replacement on rig...

The Correlation between Left and Right Ventricular Ejection Fractions in Patients with Ischemic Heart Disease, Documented by Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Introduction: The correlation between right and left ventricular ejection fractions (RVEF and LVEF, respectively) has been studied in only a small number of patients with a marked decrease in RVEF and LVEF. The aim of the present study was to compare LVEF and RVEF in patients with ischemic heart disease. RVEF and LVEF were measured by Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) imaging. Materials a...

بررسی شاخصهای اکوکاردیوگرافی کارکرد بطن راست در پرفشاری شریان خون ریوی

Introduction: Echocardiography is usually the first modalities of imaging to evaluate the structural and functional disorders of the heart and great vessels, and colored flow and Doppler images are able to perform hemodynamic and bloodstream evaluations. The goal of this study was the investigation of right ventricular function using echocardiography in patients with pulmonary artery hypertensi...

Echocardiographic visualization of ventricular septal defect in infants and assessment of hemodynamic status using a contrast technique. Comparison of M-mode and two-dimensional imaging.

Twenty-seven patients with ventricular septal defect (VSD), ages 2 months to 2 years, were evaluated by both M-mode and two-dimensional echocardiography (2-D echo) with the aid of a peripheral venous contrast technique. M-mode echocardiography was unreliable for imaging VSD. Using 2-D echo, defects in the interventricular septum were visualized in all patients examined; defects in the membranou...

Assessment of Right Ventricular Structure and Function in Pulmonary Hypertension

Right ventricular function plays an important role in determining cardiac symptoms and exercise capacity in chronic heart failure. It is known that right ventricle has complex anatomy and physiology. The purpose of this review paper is to demonstrate the best assessment of the right ventricle with current echocardiography. Echocardiography can assess sufficiently right ventricular structure and...
